Things to Check if Your Credit Card Is Declined:
- Credit Limit: Have you exceeded your credit card limit?
- Card Details: Did you enter your credit card number, expiration date, billing address, and phone number correctly?
- Spending Pattern: Is your purchase amount significantly different from your usual spending? Some banks may decline transactions that seem out of the ordinary.
- Bank Policies: Does your issuing bank have special policies for electronic or internet transactions?
Common Decline Reasons and Their Meanings:
- Do Not Honor: The bank's fraud detection flagged this transaction as potentially fraudulent.
- Pick Up Card – SF: The bank declined the transaction because it needs to retrieve the card.
- AVS Rejected: The transaction was declined because the address provided does not match the address on file.
- Invalid Card Number: The number entered does not match the card information on file.
- Lost Card, Pick Up: The card has been reported lost. If it is in use, this may indicate fraud.
- Stolen Card, Pick Up: The card has been reported stolen, so the transaction was declined as a security measure.
- Insufficient Funds: There are not enough funds in your account or you have exceeded your credit limit.
